ok, nevermind, i'm a tool.  /usr on the machine that runs squid is full all the
time now, and i haven't gotten all the services off of that machine yet, so i
can't rebuild it.  squid lives in /usr/local/squid and would die since it
couldn't write to its log files.

i really need to rebuild that machine.  bah.
