[geeks] solaris 8 gremlin

I am running a sun box with Solaris 8. Yesterday all of a sudden the prompt in
console had a timestamp attached that followed it everywhere. There was a
problem with the scrollbar as well. It will not go more then 1/2 way back to
the top before "slipping" from the pointers grasp. I think we picked up
something. We have not been allowed to patch for two months. Ideas?
