Oh!  oops!  I misunderstood.  dd is what I've always used - without a
simgle problem...

Linux, eh? hrm, try:
dd if=/dev/hdc of=[path to dir]/image.iso

I think, but I could be mistaken, that that's all you need.  It's all
I've evner needed anyway.  It also assumes that your CDROM is IDE, and
is the "secondary master".  Change to suit the actual config...
