So, I bought the current issue of MacAddict. Bill, there is in reason to
get someone to upload you a copy. Why? Because this is essentiall ProTools
Free. The giveaway is that it says 8 tracks of digital audio, when the real
Protools can handle 48+ hardware chanels (with even more virtual chanels down
mixed to the 48+).

Which isn't to say that ProTools Free is worthless. It works just fine if
all you need is 8 virtual tracks. It doesn't support the more exotic
digidesign hardware though, so doing more than 2 simultaneous hardware tracks
is out (i.e. The 8 virtual tracks are being down mixed to 2, and you can
only record 2 tracks at once), which rules out using the free version for
doing band recordings, etc.

Or at least, that was the limitations of the NT version. This is still
protools free on the MacAddict CD, but maybe it can support more hardware
chanels than the windows version.
