[geeks] FreeBSD install problem on ALR server

We have had great success using Athlon's for rendering. The floating point
is amazing.

Right now we only have 30 render slaves, so they are not too hard to manage,
but I am dreading looking after too many more. Right now they are running
Win2K, but we are slowly moving over to Linux which should make my life
easier.

For 3D rendering (I hate to say this), nothing seems to beat a stack on
lintel machines on the low and mid end. At the high end, well that many
intel machines are unmanageable, so you spend more on machines to cut
staff costs (why Pixar uses Suns rather than Lintel boxes).

For video editing, I think that given the right software, an O2 should be
just as fast, if not faster than the fastest athlon. I think the same
might hold true for HPs FX lintel boxes.
