[geeks] flamewar question: Perl

I thought I knew enough shell scripting for the rest of my life - until I
took my current job. Everything done up until the time I came on board was
done with Perl. When I place my Bash scripts up against the Perl scripts
written before I got there - my scripts seem barbaric and "un-intelligent".

I guess it's personal preference. I'd really like to know more Perl, but I
simply don't have time, so I'll continue using Bash as my utility toolbox.
However, if I ever find myself with loads of time sitting in the office
(like that ever happens) - I usually try to learn a little Perl.

Kurt
