It seems that Intel made a mistake in the MB design, and that the MB will be up to 3-4 weeks delayed going into Mfg. This will impact the # of Xboxen available on announcement (Nov. 8), but will not cause the date to slip.

But, the interesting quote was at the bottom of the news item I read:

Although any delay or product shortage might be a public-relations black eye, it wouldn't hurt Microsoft's financial results much, analysts said. In fact, since Microsoft initially will lose about $100 on each Xbox sold, a delay would actually improve its earnings and profit margins, two analysts noted.
