[SunHELP] strange boot issue

Hello again,

Solaris 9

I recently restored the OS from a tape backup of one E280R to another E280R.
This box has 3 T3 arrays, I restored to c1t1d0s#.

I have a running OS on c2t1d1s# that I can easily boot on the same box
(original OS).

When I boot c1t1d0s# array, it fails with "/dev/dsk/c1t1d0s6" no such device
(I made this slice /usr so boot will not continue)

BUT when I boot from c2t1d0s# array, it boots fine (original OS on the box)
and I can mount /dev/dsk/c1t1d0s6 to a temp mount point and see all of the
/usr files are there.

I tried boot -r but no go. Really mystified why this is happening.
