Hi,

But if the boot failed it should continue on to altboot1 and try again (at
least that is how I remember it). Maybe, as you say, the primary_boot drive
must be totally unavailable, can't be seen at all, then it says, "OK, try
altboot1"...

I'll pull the drive and try a reboot and see what happens.

I suspect the issue may be that it actually loaded a file from the disk, if
possible remove the primary all together.
