We are evaluating a version of apache at work that has been compiled with the sun CoolThreads compiler, and it definitely has outperformed the non coolthreads compiled version. I don't have the numbers anymore, but the difference on 2.2.10 worker was enough that we decided to stick with coolthreads compiled apache.
