If these are the ones I am thinking about they only have a single scsi
connector point.
I think there are 7 disks (JBOD), either 4gb or 9gb, drives in each
cabinet, but the
connector on the disk cabinet requires a differential feed.
They were primarily used with the Sun Storage Array controller (I think
it was the A3500)
which had about 16 connection points going out to the individual JBOD
arrays which
IIRC were RSM214(s), but I have been known to be wrong one or two
(hundred) times in my career. [;>)

Iirc, they are daisy chainable (I used to have many of these attached
to E6000's and similar; I can't find any reference on the Sun docs
sight that verifies one way or another, though). HVD should support
up to 14 IDs on the bus--you just need to make sure that the IDs are
set properly in the RSM.
As for cracking the disk cannisters open, you need a nylon tool like
they use for cracking open laptops.
