all you have to do is ask nicely.
system administrators are also a "special case".
if it's your job, you get access to the resources you need to do your job.
instead of cursing at end users ("sod off, jack"), we try to service
their requests and needs as best we are able.
instead, i find a lot of amateurs want what the professionals need.
by the way, you have picked an extreme situation (kind of like an
"exception") to argue your point. in the USA, these types of security
are rare (mainly government and government contractors). from
observation, this leads to hurt feelings and politically correct results
(that is, the death of common sense) as well as misquotes.
the average system administrator is never in this situation that you
have tried to take me to task over.
now you want to argue over how many angels can dance on the head of a
needle?
