[SunHELP] libpthread.a on Solaris 8?

I'm trying to compile a statically-linked backup client on a Solaris 8
machine that requires libpthread.a.  The problem is, I don't HAVE a
libpthread.a, just libpthread.so, and all my searches for a full
pthreads package for Solaris 8 have come up dry.

Can anyone help me out with a pointer?
