FW: [SunHELP] newbie unclear on post installation steps of solaris 8 on ultra sparc...

That was my original thinking during the installation that the Sun box
will point to the DNS server for this domain. So I added the DNS servers
of my web host, TZO to my /etc/resolv.conf file. So now it looks like
this:
Domain mydomain.com
Nameserver my existing internal DNS server. Points to internal private
IP.
Nameserver my ISP DNS server - bellsouth IP
Nameserver web host DNS server - TZO IP
Nameserver web host DNS server - TZO IP

These servers are also listed as Forwarders on my internal W2K network.
I rebooted and I'm still having the same problem. So let me try
sys-unconfig and I'll post my steps.

Why not just "sys-unconfig" (after logging in as root), and when the
box comes back up set DNS up properly? The trick is that the name you
specify for the box (name & domain) needs to point to a valid DNS entry
on the DNS servers you supply.

I use dyndns.org for my home domain, and by checking a "wildcard"
option, anything qualifier/host name in font of my dynamic dns address
resolves to my home IP address...

hope this helps,
