Sorry. I made a typo. My etc/hosts file looks like this:
Internet host table
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.1.13	mysunserver loghost

The only thing that appears in my etc/hostname.hme0 file is:
Mysunserver

Internet
If I attaempt pull up a web browser all it does is hang as its
attempting to display the page. This happens regardless of what page
it's trying to access. This happens after I reboot.
Any advice on this is appreciated.

OK. This is what I have so far:
Etc/nsswitch.conf looks like this:
Hosts:	files dns

This was already listed in the file. So I didn't have to make any
changes.

Etc/resolv.conf looks like this:
Domain mydomainname.com
Nameserver IP of my internal DNS server
Nameserver IP of my ISP DNS server: bellsouth.net
Search mydomain.com bellsouth.net

This is also already listed. No changes to be made here.

For learning purposes I'm trying to get this system set up as a DNS
client. It would also be nice to have it as a secondary server and be
able to configure the zones accordingly. For now I'm simply trying to
get the basic post installation procedures down and documented.

edit as desired.

What's "touch" is that a new term I need to become acquainted with? This
file doesn't seem to exist. So to create is it as simple as:
Vi named.conf
~
~
~
~
What am I adding here?

Excuse my obvious lack of knowledge in this area, but I'm really trying
to get this.

You wrote:

My etc/hostname.hme0 file looks like this:
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.1.13 mysunserver logos

I'm betting the loop address isn't needed but I'll wait for a
confirmation on this.
As of right now the files appear to be setup as they need to be. I've
rebooted, but I'm still unable to access the internet on this system,
even though I can ping an external server, say www.sun.org. I get a
response that it's alive; same as with any of my internal systems.
So where do I go from here?

Looks like you are trying to set up your Solaris 8 box as a DNS client.
The files that you will need to make/configure are the /etc/resolv.conf
and the /etc/nsswitch.conf.

sample /etc/resolv.conf
domain somedomain.com
nameserver ipaddressofmydnsserver
nameserver ipaddressofmybackupdnsserver

in the /etc/nsswitch.conf change the line that reads
hosts: files
to read
hosts: files dns

I could use a little guidance from the list members. I've gone through
the initial process of installing Solaris 8 onto my Sun Ultra Sparc and
now I'm lost as to what to do next. I already have a w2k network in
place and the intent is to set up the sparc onto this network. Or at
least get it up and running with internet connectivity as a minimum.
I've got a couple of really good student guides that I'm using to aid in
my studies but I'm lacking the kind of documentation that covers post
installation. I've taken the liberty of creating a host record for this
box and assigned an IP to it from my w2k DHCP & DNS servers. I also
selected to install the DNS service during setup. I've added my domain
name and the domain name of my ISP to the resolv.conf file, so what else
am I missing? I seem to be able to ping the other systems on my network.
I get a reply that the server is alive. I know there's still a lot to do
in regards to getting this up and running with full internet
connectivity, so any help or direction is greatly appreciated.
