[SunHELP] newbie unclear on post installation steps of solaris 8 on ultra sparc...

I ran into the same problem with Sol9 on a SPARC box I'm setting up. After
poking around with some settings I finally threw up my hands and re-installed
with DHCP disabled (otherwise I didn't seem to be able to assign the
workstation a name, and I couldn't figure out how to). Added the fully
qualified hostname to the hosts file and created an appropriate
/etc/resolv.conf file and it seemed happy.

If named.conf doesn't exist, create it. touch /etc/named.conf and then edit
as
desired. ... Now I have to wonder if that's what I was missing, thanks for
the tip... it's always something simple and stupid.

Yeah, I'm a newbie too.

Damn. Fortunately I have a couple spare drives, I'm gonna try installing with
DHCP enabled and then add named.conf and do all the other stuff, and see if
that fixes it. I'll let you know. As soon as this second box finishes
installing, that is.
