Honestly the Tatung is a better machine than the U10. It is more like a U30
perfromance and I/O wise. The Tatung uses, as stated before the Sun Engine
AXi (damn fine) board which has 2 UPA slots, 10/100 Ethernet, 2 (1 Internal,
1 external) UW SCSI channels and can handle 2 GB of memory. The other thing
I really like about the Tatung is that if you want you can ount the system
board in a rack mount ATX case.

The real problem is that you cannot honestly compare it to a U10. It was
designed by Tatung to fill the desktop Sun role and price point that the Sun
U10 filled. Other than using the same CPU's the comarision ends quickly
since the U10 has IDE as it's drive type and only has 1 UPA slot. Lastly I
think the Enlight OEM'ed case on the Tatung is built better.

When I got my Tatung I was *very* pleased to see that it was not a true U10
clone.

Well if you really want a Sun PeeCee the U5 or U10 is for you. If you want a
workstation for a good deal get the Tatung. I do have to say the price
quoted on the Tatung is a bit high if you look at machines like the U30
which can be found in the $500-600 price range.

I have had Tatung machines in production since I started Twmaster.com. Not
one has let me down yet so I find them to be every bit as reliable and up to
par performance wise. I had briefly toyed with the idea of becoming a Tatung
distributor.
