FWIW, I ran a SS20 with dual Ross 125MHz CPUs, a VSIMM, four slots of 
memory, an SBUS Le0 card, an SBUS Le0/SCSI card, and two internal hard 
drives in an unairconditioned house (ambient up to 95F), running Seti on 
both processors, for a year with no problem!

So no, I don't think you did anything out of line - and in fact I doubt 
it was heat per se that killed it (though I certainly don't recommend 
stressing it as I did).
