Sunmanagers,

I have a few Sun Blade 100s (SB100) to setup. One was setup without a
problem. The second has given several problems.

Any help, pointers, etc. will be greatly appreciated and I will be happy
to summarize when the issue(s) are solved.

Here are the messages that I could copy and the circumstances when they
happened. All are easily reproduced. I have tried to find information
but have not found anything that appeared to be applicable

SB100: 128MB and 512MB (tested with both memory configuration; results
the same), 15GB Sun hard drive, with/without network connection, USB
keyboard, no USB mouse.

******
#1
"ok boot cdrom" (Solaris 8 10/01 Disk 1 of 2)
...
"configuring /dev and /devices"
"using RPC Bootparams for network configuration information"
(I have not seen this line before on a SB100
(Occurs whether connected to the network or not
(The SB100 was previously setup for DHCP
The installation process starts and English, #0, is selected for the
Language and Locale
SB100 reboots
"Starting OpenWindows"
Error message streak by...
"giving up."
"/usr/openwin/bin/xinit: Connection refused (errno 146): unable to
connect to X server"
"//usr/openwin/bin/xinit: no such process (errno 3): Server error"
SB100 is unusable

#2
"ok boot cdrom" (Solaris 8 Webstart installation disk)
The installation process begins...
   (Language and Locale are English
   (Swap partition chosen s0
   (Disk format
   (Swap setup s0
   (Mini-Root installation on s1
   (Reboots
"Panic (CPU...."
(The information passes by too quickly for me to read & write
   (plenty of numberic codes/dumps?

#3
"ok boot cdrom -s"
The SB100 will boot and the hard drive can be mounted

#4
"ok obdiag" (I set the OB to run the diag of course.)
I ran some of the tests before leaving
serial, parallel, network, USB keyboard, CDROM, floppy passed
I believe CPU, framebuffer, and memory also passed but I did not
record these results
"test-all" was started before I left
****

The CPU panic is easily replicated.

I will take a USB mousem to use tomorrow.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Feel free to email me with any questions, etc.

Thank you!

Michael H.
