[SunHELP] Exceed session startup hangs, custom .profile

when coming in on exceed the cde session hangs for user
before it can fully initialize.  the .profile asks a 
question to set the environment so i believe this has 
something to do with it.  is there any check i can do
the determine whether someone is coming in on exceed?
the ssh connections are working as expected and all
other exceed attempts with other user accounts are 
working as well.
