How to check whether a D1000 has been attached to a system or not?
Any command or does it add any settings in /etc/system or other files =
??

They are using router-supported RARP to respond to the ARPed requests
from the worksation.  It is possible to configure Sun stations to work
this way as well, I saw the documentation a couple of months back, I
believe on Cisco's site.

I have cddrive at target id 2 in my sun ultra m/c.
conventionally cddrive's target id is set to 6 and
devalias for the same is cdrom but i hv devalias for
target 2 is disk2 so will it be fine if i give "boot
disk2" while booting with cdrom or it is mendatory to
keep cddrive's target id 6 while booting with cdrom.

I have snooped the ifppp0 interface and I think it's a DNS request =

nscd does that (assuming Solaris) continuously, it's best killed

You need to know what you're connecting to - Cisco has a couple of
different VPN products.  The one they acquired from Compatible Systems
a couple of years ago does have a Solaris client available, I know.

I have a SS10 and got another CPU for it today but I can't seem to get=20
it going.  When I boot up into prom (or whatever you call it).  I type=20
"module-info" and I get back:

Ok, so I boot up into Solaris 8 from disk and I notice a message:

MP not supported on downrev SuperSPARC without SuperCache booting UP =
only
CPU0: TI, TMS390Z50 version 0x0
CPU2: TI, TMS390Z50 version 0x0

I don't know what that means so I ignore it and log on as root.  I do a =

"psrinfo" and get:
0    on-line    since 09/09/01    01:15:28

Then I do:
psradm -n 2
and get:
psradm: Processor 2: Invalid argument

I've also tried -n with numbers 0-5 - No luck.

I'm new to SUN systems and have very little linux/unix experience so=20
I'll admit I don't know what I'm doing but any help would be greatly=20
appreciated.

You ignore the one and only message that says there is a problem.=20
MP with some of the earlier processors is not possible due to some=20
bugs. This message told you that the machine is going to boot UP=20
(uni-processor).

There is no fix, except change the processormodules

are you going to install it in CVP mode or in Normal Mode.
If you are going to install in normal mode either you make a gateway=20
virus scanner or you have to change the smtp port (25) of the Netscape=20
messgaing server.

That number is in bits, not megabits.

100000000 / 1000000 =3D 100

That interface is indeed running at 100Mb.

edit /etc/system and add the line:

set pty_cnt =3D number

where "number" is the number of PTYs you want created on the system. =
The
default is 48, I believe.

After editing the file, run 'reboot -- -r'
