You need a very recent Solaris 8 version for cwlarge IDE drives. 

Or buy an IDE-SCSI RAID system with IDE disks and an SCSI host
connection and a fairly inexpensive Symbios 53C875 board (no Tekram).
There is no limit with SCSI drives.
