Absolute basic files that you need to edit:

/etc/hosts (ip of local machine - !!!leave the localhost as
127.0.0.1!!!)

/etc/defaultrouter (ip of gateway) ( if not there create it 
#echo "ip of gateway" > /etc/defaultrouter 

/etc/netmasks (subnet)

/etc/resolv.conf (dns servers)
