[SunHELP] problem setting PATH under solaris 8

Perhaps I should have quoted and elaborated more.
This was is response to the question about why changing PATH in /.profile
was
not affecting root's PATH.
If root's HOME were /root, its /root/.profile that need editing.
Jan Johansson gave one of the reasons why you should not have root's home
at '/', (quoted below). /root is a common convention for root's home.
