[SunHELP] FCO #A0089-1 only on five-bladed fans?

I have resurrected those brushless fan motors through judicious application
of small amounts of light oil on the spindles. Usually there's a label over
the end of the spindle which you can remove to reveal a circlip. Pop this
and the unit comes apart. Oil the spindle and bearings and re-assemble. Some
units use sealed bearings in which case you could be stuffed. Look and
learn.
Cheers
Joe

Subject: [SunHELP] FCO #A0089-1 only on five-bladed fans?
I've got an Ultra 1 in which, not surprisingly, the CPU fan has failed.
The fan has seven blades. I called Sun here in Sweden to have it replaced
but they told me that the FCO only applies to five-bladed fans.
Has anyone else succeeded in getting a replacement for a seven-bladed fan?
If not, what are my alternatives? Buying from Sun? Third-party? Can I use
a fan for an Intel system? If so, should it be designed for a 486 or a
Pentium?
The fan runs if I help it a bit. Does this imply that it's possible to
repair it, or would this just be wasted effort?
Thanks!
