1. Disk partitions
     SDS      - uses hard partitions
     VxVM  - uses soft partitions

2.  Disk grouping
      SDS      - uses metaset in an HA environment
     VxVM  - uses disk groups

3. Disk configuration data
    SDS      -  metadbs manually configured, must maintain quorum
     VxVM  - private areas on all disks, majority kept active for quorum

4. Metadevice/Volume creation and reconfiguration
     SDS      -  metadevice creation is harder and requires more
knowledge and planning
     VxVM  -  volume creation with GUI is very easy requiring little
knowldge and minimal planning

5. Disk replacement
     SDS      - several manual steps required
     VxVM  - easy menu driven program

6. Troubleshooting
     SDS      - simple
     VxVM  -  complex
