  1: Forgotten root password:
A: Boot off of alternate media
           1) Boot off of CD media
               a) mount drive
               b) edit /mount_point/etc/shadow
           2) Boot off of network
               a) mount drive
               b) edit /mount_point/etc/shadow
           3) Boot off of tape
               a) mount drive
               b) edit /mount_point/etc/shadow
           4) Boot off of floppy disk(s)
               a) mount drive
               b) edit /mount_point/etc/shadow
               c) If using an OS other than SunOS, make certain
that there is support for mounting Sun partitions (R/W).
            5) Boot off of another hard-drive
               a) mount drive
               b) edit /mount_point/etc/shadow
               c) If using an OS other than SunOS, make certain
that there is support for mounting Sun partitions (R/W).
                d) Options here are place another bootable drive (internal or external)
in your Ultra 1 and boot off of it or place that drive
into another machine as a slave (as internal or external). Or
place a blank drive in, install OS on it and proceed as mentioned
                      above.

2: Ignore anyone who says that your only hope is to have a CD. While it is the
easiest method, it is far from the only one. In fact, there are other methods
than those listed here, but I'm confident that any other methods wouldn't
        be worth your time.

   3: Bring Ultra 1 to Solaris 7 (SunOS 5.7)?
       A) Yes
            1) But you'll need the Solaris 7 bootable media. This is required and makes
the above mentioned password issue MUCH more simple.
             2) Also, OS installation can be done via the network as well as direct
                   physically available media.
