Hi,

Here's an easier way to configure NIS server. (Applicable for Solaris 2.x)

# domainname example-name (to set your nis-domain)
# domainname > /etc/defaultdomain
# cp /etc/nsswitch.nis /etc/nsswitch.conf

To initialize NIS
# cd /var/yp
# /usr/lib/netsvc/yp/ypstart
