well..you could use the standard serial port on a sun box (on the clock board),
using the se_hdlc driver with Solaris 2.6 and above (/2.52.5.1 its zsh). You
don't need any other special hardware for a RS-232 based connection.
Additionally, you could use a High speed serial link if you wish, then u'd have
to buy additonal hardware i.e Sbus HSI card.
