You know whether you have a unix box or not shouldn't really matter.  I can
install internet connection sharing, FTP, HTTP and database servers (plus a
host of others) on windows 9x boxes (don't get me wrong I only have one and
its because of the peer pressure :).  So the fact that you have a "server"
is pretty much irrelevent this day and age.  I guess its that static IP
that's getting you.
