[Sunhelp] cdrom auto ejects on insert

having a problem with cdrom in my ultra1/creator

it functions perfectly on both audio/data cds
however, upon inserting a new cd, it promptly ejects the tray again.
it will do this cas often as i re-close the tray

the only resolution so far for me is to wait 5-20 minutes, and then the
cd will stay in the drive and i can use it normaly.
