I too have an E4000, (Solaris 2.6 this time), and like yours the disk board
shows as
detached and unknown ASIC revision. Our board however didn't report low power,
according to it's diagnostics it had 'hung in OS', which is rubbish considering
that
this was the board containing the disk that the system was running from!

According to Sun this was because the E4000 disk boards are designed for up
to 2GB drives, and we'd got 4.5GB units in, so when it tests the disks it gets a
geometry that it doesn't recognise as valid, hence the error indication.

This could be complete fantasy, but it sounded plausible to me. And this systems
been running pretty much 100% reliably for well over a year now, so I'm
definitely
not complaining.

Robert

[There's a postscript to this story. I asked Sun "if the board is incorrectly
showing
an error, how will we know when there's a real error?". Sun's answer "oh that's
easy, your system will stop working" .... duhh!]
