The new ones are here:
http://www.sun.com/products/sunray1/

The old ones had some problems with the way they "fake" 8-bit Pseudocolor
mode. The last site I was responsible for bought some on my recommendation
for use with some scientific waveform analysis tools which require the
display to run in 8-bit pseudocolor. The Sun Ray software implements it
in a back-assward manner, and you end up with problems like not being
able to handle buffered animation in the pseudocolor mode, which impacted
us because we couldn't change the intesity of spectrograms in real time.

There were also a few problems (bugs) with the dtlogin and dtsession
stuff as implemented in the 1.0 software (with a patch to address some
if not all the issues).

If the tokens for the smart cards or for the sunray get out of synch with
the server for whatever reason, cleaning up the resultant mess can be
a bit of a chore, since they spread the config info out over about 8
different files in addition to the normal cleanup you have to do behind
the dtsession manager and X server when you run into disconnects.

The video in still isn't supported, either.

On the bright side, the "you must use on a dual-interface system, with the
sunrays on a private net" bit is just optimal config info rather than
a requirement. :)
