Hello all!  (My first posting)

I'm not sure if I have enough experience to ask a specific enough question
so I'll just try to keep it as brief as possible....

I've just installed a Sparc 20 on my network at home. I have a lan which
is connected to my ISP via an ISDN router. I've got everything working
fine. (i.e., I can telnet and ftp to my work from home and can surf the web
and read my email from my ISP using Netscape.)

My problem is that it seems like my Sparc 20 (running Solaris 2.7) seems
to keep requesting something on the net which forces my ISDN router
to maintain a connection to my ISP. @ $18 per day in ISDN charges
it is just a waste of money :-( (My router opens a connection shortly
after booting the workstation and if I manually force the router to disconnect
it immediately connects again.)

Is there something which I can turn off to avoid having it do this? Is
there a way I should track down the offending service so I can shut it
down if I don't need it?

Thanks in advance,

//Chuck
