[Sunhelp] linking problems

Since I never got a response about my last posting ... I compiled ht://Dig
on Solaris 2.6 with gcc and GNU make. It compiled fine but when I try to
run one of the binaries ld.so.1 complains that it can't find libz.so. Well,
libz.so is in /usr/local/lib and once I put a link to it from /usr/lib it
worked fine. I find in the man page that by default /usr/lib is the only
place that ld.so.1 looks for libraries. I have LD_LIBRARY_PATH set to
several paths, including /usr/local/lib but it doesn't seem to help. Any
ideas? TIA
