[SPARCbook] Powerlites and epsons, oh my!

I got a powerlite without the power brick.  A friend mentioned that both
the connector and the battery looked surprisingly like his ancient Epson
laptop.  Has anyone else noticed and/or tried this?  One would assume that
if the power brick pumped 12 VDC at 4.5A and used the right pinout, the
manufacturer should be irrelevant, no?
