No. Anything you do from the openboot prompt has nothing to do at all with
the operating system. (openboot kan start Linux or BSD types as well as
Solaris.)

If your unit can't boot from an external SCSI CD-ROM device that conforms
to the specs as described in the SUN CDROM FAQ you are in trouble. I would
expect some SCSI hardware failure.
