 You may want to include whatever error messages you encountered. I've not
encountered any problems installing Star Office on Solaris 2.5, 2.5.1, 2.6
or 7 (which contains SunOS 5.5, 5.5.1, 5.6 and 5.7, respectively) and I
have compiled/pkgadd'd/installed plenty of other applications on each
version as well without problems as well.
  
 As for obtaining versions of Solaris 2.6 or Solaris 7, under their
non-commercial use offerings they were roughly $10 for the media and
upwards of $18 for shipping... you'll probably need to call Sun and ask
them if either are still available. I believe that any other path would
lead to violating copyrights and licenses, but Sun will be best suited for
telling you what methods are legal and which are illegal.
