         I swapped out my 2gig drive for
      an ibm dada 6.4 gig successfully.
      Perhaps you have the 'jumper block'
      (the black thingy that fits over
      the pins on the rear of the drive
      and adapter) on backwards. I know
      this will 'break' things because I
      did it myself. Try reversing the
      jumper.
