[rescue] Help me with a car part...

crownvic.net is pretty good but it took me months to actually get my
account approved, so your mileage may vary.

I'm going to guess one wire is constant 12V, one wire is switched 12V,
one wire is ground, and the remainder is dim. I didn't really see
rhyme or reason in the colors on my 86 Crown Vic's radio harness... if
I had to hazard a guess, I'd say black = ground, grey = dim, white w/
purple = switched 12V, green w/ yellow = constant 12V. I'd consider
stripping the wires and poking around, but if they use a lower voltage
than 12V for anything (I might suspect the 'dim' signal) you might be
in trouble if you start fooling around with it
