Besides the above reason:
1) Because the idea is amusing.
2) Because as far as I'm presently aware, driver software for the SunPCI 
cards only exists on Solaris SPARC, and the drivers really don't *have* 
to do much beyond bootstrap the card, especially if the card's got a 
directly connected hard drive/SSD, or is configured to PXE-boot.
