That Home editions don't natively support network backups isn't really that
big a deal IMHO - if you are setting up a home network the MS solution is to
run Home Server or Server Essentials, both of which offer bare metal restore
as well as more traditional backups/restores to network drives.

MS doesn't AFAIK sell single end-user support contracts, and all patches are
available to licensed users.

Finally, a user that gets the wrong version of Win7 can do an in-place upgrade
from inside the OS with a simple credit card transaction.
