I never attempted installing on something other than [Open]Solaris[Express],
but others seem to be doing it.

Since Solaris handles 32-bit/64-bit stuff so gracefully, I really don't know
what is running as 32 bit or 64 bit. I can't imagine that there is a
compelling need for SRSS to run as 64 bit, though. My biggest complaint is
that SRSS insists on running in the global zone, but for me that is more
annoying than a problem.

Grab a terminal on the cheap somewhere and play.
