The drive itself is a slimline IDE DVD-ROM drive. It boots CDs fine and 
I just tested reading DVDs within FreeBSD, so I'm assuming it's a 
firmware problem somewhere. Maybe I should go barter with Oracle to get 
firmware updates. *cough*
