The impossible sync ranges heavily effected people with non-widescreen
LCD monitors, not just the ones with widescreen.

The V6 and V8 graphics can't pixel clocks of 109-193Mhz, although it
isn't strictly the pixel clock because 16bpp vs. 8bpp plays into it as
well.

By my calculations (and some post on Nekochan will probably confirm or
refute this), 1680x1050, 60hz, 16bpp will work where 1280x1024, 60hz,
16bpp will not work.

I ended up skipping from SE to V10, so I don't have first hand
experience with this short coming.
