There are a couple of varieties of LSI 3800X that are compatible with
VMS.  I'd suspect that if there's an HP board with that chipset on it,
it'd probably work.  However, on an ES40, I don't know if you'd be able
to get SRM to boot from it.  Furthermore, the 3800X might only be
compatible with VMS on Itanium, but it's worth looking into.
