Linux supports NFSv3 for a long time now - in theory.

I have not used NFS heavily, but my mostly-Linux-only network has ran
NFS just out of the box - having used different Debian releases mostly
during the time and having automount in /net on many nodes. Most share
their /home between them and some other mount points. Linux kernel 2.6
with kernelspace NFS server mostly, don't remember the details from 2.4
timeframe but I used it back then too. The only problem I have seen was
on my workstation while testing a prerelease kernel (lost NFS
connectivity at all).

So it seems Linux mostly talks fine to Linux at the least.
