I doubt that would make any difference, as the software most likely has copyright limitations that would either directly or indirectly prohibit activities...

That just makes them cry louder. DYNIX is someone's intellectual property, and may contain software sourced/licensed from third-parties - even if the owners of DYNIX didn't care, they may (I repeat MAY, IANAL) be required to protect the rights of the software they licensed from those third-parties.

Having said all that, I'd suggest putting a terabyte or two on line, securing libraries of software behind a password-protected ftp server, and give out temporary user credentials to download individual files/libraries. Dumping everything in a public web site invites legal action from any one of the owners software... IMHO.
