True, but you know... using base 2 approximations for numeric prefixes
always has been an incorrect practice.

Disk manufacturers... do they really make their drives fit base 10 for
marketing reasons, or are they really just doing it the correct way?

It seems to me that the whole industry has been in error for years.

If you want to use a new numeric prefix, then shouldn't you create one
and get it standardized?

You know, like kibi, mebi, gigi, etc?
