When I hopped across the Pond a while back, I was taken to the Fry's
near San Francisco. It's a lot better than the DSG-owned PC World we
have over here. Everything I look at in PC World just screams "rip
off".

There used to be some good small computer shops with reasonable
prices, but they've vanished now everybody either mail-orders over the
Internet or wanders into a DSG store to have their wallet emptied.

I generally end up just stockpiling my part requests and then put in a
large order with scan.co.uk so the #11.75 delivery charge doesn't hurt
quite as much.
